Premature ejaculation (premature ejaculation) is one of the most commonly encountered sexual performance and control problems in men. It is defined as ejaculation occurring shortly after sexual intercourse begins, outside the desire of the person or their partner. This condition negatively affects men’s quality of life not only physically, but also psychologically and emotionally.

Today, many men face the problem of premature ejaculation and seek solutions through different methods. However, unfortunately, methods not recommended in premature ejaculation treatment can make the problem even more complicated rather than solving it.

Treatments Not Recommended for Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation treatment Many men seeking treatment are directed toward incorrect practices due to misinformation obtained from the internet or their surroundings. Most of these methods may create a temporary effect, but in the long term they can cause both physical and psychological harm. Here are treatment methods not recommended for premature ejaculation:
1. Unconsciously Used Herbal Mixtures and Pastes
In recent years, “herbal mixtures,” “pastes that enhance male power,” or “natural sexual performance products” sold online or at herbal shops have become quite popular.
However, the content and dosage of most of these products are uncertain. Some contain high amounts of chemicals or stimulants, which may threaten liver, kidney, and heart health. In addition, although they may create a short-term stimulating effect, they do not provide a permanent benefit for premature ejaculation. They may even create a risk of hormonal imbalance and dependency in the long term.
2. Over-the-Counter Sexual Performance Enhancing Drugs
Some “performance-enhancing pills” or “sexual power drugs” that can be easily obtained on the market are definitely not recommended for the treatment of premature ejaculation. Many of these drugs contain substances that increase blood pressure and may cause serious health risks, especially in men with heart or blood pressure problems.
In addition, these drugs do not affect the cause of premature ejaculation; they only provide temporary erection support. Therefore, since they do not treat the underlying psychological or neurological causes, they only postpone the problem.
3. Uncontrolled Use of Local Anesthetic Creams and Sprays
Some men try to delay ejaculation by reducing sensitivity with anesthetic creams or sprays applied to the penis. These products may provide a temporary benefit in the short term, but their uncontrolled use is dangerous. When applied in excessive doses or incorrectly, they can cause both skin irritation and numbness. Moreover, they may also cause a numbing effect in the partner, completely eliminating sexual pleasure. With long-term use, sensitivity in the nerve endings decreases and sexual dysfunctions may develop.
Such products can only be used under doctor supervision and as short-term supportive treatment.
4. Exercises and “At-Home Solution” Techniques Without Scientific Basis
Videos or articles frequently encountered on the internet such as “premature ejaculation solution in 5 minutes” and “at-home muscle exercises” are often lacking scientific basis.
Some exercises may be beneficial when applied correctly (for example, Kegel exercises that strengthen the pelvic floor muscles), but when performed with incorrect techniques, they may cause muscle spasms, pain, or loss of sexual desire.
Premature ejaculation treatment should be planned according to the individual’s physiological and psychological structure. Therefore, “one-size-fits-all” exercise programs generally do not work.
5. Treatment Attempts Hidden Due to Partner Pressure or Shame
Premature ejaculation creates shame in many men or fear of disappointing their partner. Therefore, some people hide the condition and resort to recommendations from the internet or friends instead of a doctor. However, this delays treatment, prevents identifying the root cause of the problem, and often deepens relationship problems.
