Break Free by Postponing Procrastination

If you constantly make promises to yourself and cannot keep them, cannot carry out what you planned, say things like I will exercise later, I actually have time, I will start the diet on Monday, feel the need to take frequent breaks, spend your time on unimportant tasks instead of your main responsibilities, and wait until the last minute to do your work and then get stressed, your procrastination habit may have become advanced.

Procrastination habit is a serious problem, and if procrastination behavior has progressed too far through repetition, there are even scientists who describe it as an illness. As long as you do not solve this problem, it is very difficult to be successful and happy. Fortunately, it is possible to overcome it; my suggestions and the Procrastination-Ending Subconscious Practice at the end of this article can help free you from the stress and guilt caused by the procrastination habit.

We all postpone our tasks from time to time, but if this becomes constant, it can negatively affect our work and private life and even put our friendships at risk. When we postpone, we may feel temporary relief in that moment, but afterward, as tasks pile up, we become overwhelmed and stressed.

How Can You Get Rid Of The Procrastination Habit?

  1. First, to find out why you procrastinate, a good start is to honestly turn inward and begin thinking by focusing on your thoughts and emotions. Think about which tasks you postpone and for what reasons. We usually procrastinate due to psychological reasons. Fear of failure, anxiety, perfectionism, etc. Remember, the procrastination habit is not a time management problem, but mostly related to emotions. The author Windy Dryden also explains in his book Procrastination Is Missing Life that we procrastinate for psychological reasons.
  2. There may be frequently repeated sentences that cause your procrastination: I cannot do it, I cannot succeed, What if I fail? Instead of these negative thought patterns, repeat the sentences I do it easily and I succeed easily.
  3. Make sure your goals are realistic and clear.
  4. If you procrastinate because you cannot get organized, create a To-Do List.
  5. Do your urgent and important tasks first.
  6. Start with tasks you can finish quickly and make success a habit.
  7. Focus on one task at a time.
  8. Break tasks into smaller and more manageable parts.

You can record the following on a voice recorder or your mobile phone and listen to it. A recording made with instrumental music or nature sounds you like in the background will be more beneficial. First, based on the information above, do not forget to think about the reasons for your procrastination and place them in the appropriate parts below.

Go to a comfortable place where no one will disturb you. Take 5 deep breaths and make sure you completely empty your lungs. 

Now, while keeping your head still, look upward without blinking, as if you are looking between your eyebrows. This helps you communicate with your subconscious. As I count down from 5 to 1, feel or imagine your eyelids becoming heavy. 5.. your eyelids are getting heavy.. 4.. your eyelids are getting even heavier.. 3.. very heavy now.. 2.. even heavier.. and 1.. close your eyes.. relax deeply.. now I will count from 5 to 1 again so you can relax your body.. think of or imagine the places I say. Relax more with each number.. 5.. let your neck relax a little more.. 4.. relax your arms.. 3.. relax your abdomen and waist.. 2.. relax your legs down to your knees.. 1.. from below your knees to your ankles.. now relax your toes and your whole body completely.. very good.... Now imagine a trip that takes you to a beautiful beach.. imagine yourself walking on the beach. Feel the softness of the sand under your feet, the warmth and brightness of the sun. Maybe you can hear the sound of the waves.. now.. as you follow me, relax a little more.. if there are thoughts passing through your mind.. relax a little more.. and focus on where in your body you feel relaxation. As you relax, where does it spread... now take that feeling and spin it quickly in your mind... I have a method I use... while spinning peace and relaxation in my mind... I allow it to flow freely... and as I relax I say this.. You will relax and relax deeply. While your subconscious handles the details, you will wonder what will happen afterward.. as you feel yourself going deeper.. think that you love yourself more and that you are valuable. As your self-confidence increases. Relax deeply... I love this word. Because when you relax deeply and also relax your muscles... you can change the focus of the images in your mind... you can even reorganize what your inner voice says, and in this deeply relaxed state you may wonder what is happening... if an image or sound appears in your mind.. disperse it and send it away.. let it become very small, like a tiny particle.. blow on it and let it fly away.. let it move away from you.. now drift downward into a state of relaxation.. and as you follow me.. remember that every word has meaning.. because before you knew what they meant... when I say relax.. your body knows what relaxation is.. whenever I say your subconscious wants to help you.. your subconscious knows what to do... Your subconscious has always protected you.. if something comes toward your eyes, you blink.. while thinking about the reasons for procrastination.. maybe it is because of fear of failure.. maybe because of your anxieties.. or you may have your own special reasons.. (the reasons you noticed in yourself).. as you reorganize them.. as you do what is needed, you feel proud of yourself.. as the feeling of comfort increases.. your subconscious handles the details... remember to smile too.. knowing this will make you feel good... also as if you were in a dream.. because when you dream, you do not always know that you are dreaming.. so the dream you need to have now may be one in which your desires come to the surface.. your dreams come true.. your worries and fears fade back and become dim.. what happens when you go back.. deeper.. from inside to outside. Now what may happen is that your consciousness moves away from these thoughts.. and you enter a state of relaxation.. pleasure and peace.. as every breath you take flows naturally into your lungs… mixes into your blood and spreads through all your cells. Let it spread through every cell like oxygen.. spread.. spread.. spread.. inside your cells. Feel yourself being washed with this beautiful energy that cleans all the toxins around them. Feel your thoughts becoming clearer. Like a beautiful shower.. wonderful.. calm.. peaceful.. purified. Imagine this beautiful energy penetrating the nuclei of your cells.. into your chromosomes.. and thus you succeed and do what is needed without procrastinating. Because you know this decision will bring you many things. Success, happiness, peace, self-confidence, and everything.. right now.. right now..

You may repeat the affirmations a few more times. At the end of the recording, record 2 more minutes of nature music and finish it. Listen to this recording at least once a day, especially before going to sleep or immediately after waking up in the morning. After a short time, you will feel peace and great relief within yourself, and by freeing yourself from the procrastination habit, you will become more successful and happy.
