Non-Recommended Practices

We can list the wrong treatment methods that we have witnessed in the negative past treatment experiences of our patients who apply to our clinic, which are definitely not recommended, as follows;

  • Attempts at intercourse under general anesthesia or with numbness from the waist down (epidural or spinal anesthesia)
  • Using alcohol, muscle relaxants, or sedative medications before sexual intercourse,
  • Unnecessary surgical procedures; whether there is a Vaginismus diagnosis or not, removal of the hymen (hymenectomy) and performing operations to widen the vaginal entrance,
  • Performing treatments such as IVF or insemination under anesthesia for women who have vaginismus and want to have a child,
  • Hot sitz baths,
  • Meaningless medical treatments; prescribing medications containing estrogen and/or progesterone,

In such procedures, due to incorrect and unnecessary methods and medications used, patients’ depressive mood and lack of self-confidence deepen further, and spasms increase even more in subsequent intercourse attempts. It is a fact that during the time spent with these treatments, besides unnecessary loss of money and time, couples’ relationships are negatively affected. It should not be forgotten that with these non-recommended treatments, patients’ pessimism and anxieties intensify further, and instead of solving the problem, it grows even more.
