Desire Phase
It is the phase in which the feeling of sexuality emerges and the desire to express sexuality is felt. It may begin with fantasies or visual stimuli received from the partner.
Arousal Phase
It is the phase in which, accompanied by sexual feelings, vaginal secretions increase in women (lubrication) and penile erection occurs in men.
Plateau Phase
In this phase, sexual feelings intensify and sexual arousal reaches its peak. It is the phase before ejaculation. In men who experience premature ejaculation, the plateau phase is either very short or absent.

Orgasm Phase
It is a phase in which the tension accumulated during the arousal and plateau phases is discharged. During orgasm in women; 3 to 15 reflex rhythmic contractions lasting 0.8 seconds occur in the vagina and around it, the anus, and some muscle groups, and these contractions
create the feeling of orgasm. In men, ejaculation follows orgasm. After the orgasm phase, men enter a certain “Refractory period” and do not respond to stimuli during this period. Since this period does not exist in women or is very short, they can experience multiple orgasms consecutively.
Resolution Phase
With orgasm, all the tension accumulated in the arousal phase disappears. A feeling of relaxation and well-being emerges. All the changes that appeared in the arousal phase resolve and return back.
