Unmarried patients undergoing vaginismus treatment follow the same vaginismus treatment process as married patients. However, if a virgin has not had any sexual experience and suspects vaginismus solely due to psychological symptoms, feeling fear or anxiety, the treatment can also be supported, depending on the patient’s preference, with only the psychological treatment process.
It is not correct to make a vaginismus diagnosis simply because a patient who has never attempted sexual intercourse suspects that they have vaginismus. With this approach, only superficial answers can be given to the patient’s psychological problems. Since the diagnosis is not definite, the application performed will not be a definitive treatment option.
